Moors murderer Ian Brady dead - reaction

When serial killer Ian Brady died at a Merseyside hospital the news made headlines across the world.

Practically every news publication in the country rushed to turn out copy on the vile murderer and his heinous crimes.

Decades old stories resurfaced about his life and the horrible things he did.

Families of his victims spoke out about the years of torture they have lived after he murdered their loved ones and hundreds of thousands of people flooded social media with comments about the notorious Moors murder who murdered five children along with the help of his partner Myra Hindley.

While looking through Twitter for the latest angle on Brady's death I noticed that people were using the platform to vent their strong feelings towards the killer.

I decided that it would be a good idea for us to set up a live blog to document the reaction from families and the outraged public.

This was also a way for people to remember the victims alongside the news.

Alongside my colleague I ran the live blog making sure to include tributes to the victims and the strong feelings of those who reacted to Brady's death

Ian Brady's crime rocked the nation during a time before the internet existed.

Print publications covered the incidents extensively at the time but this blog brought the reporting of the Moors murders into the digital age and told the story in a brand new way.
